L’Oscar Hotel, London
The sophisticated hotel set in the heart of Theatreland required drainage and waterproofing solutions for its luxury marble bathrooms.
The Challenge
L’Oscar Hotel has been created from a Baroque style, Grade II listed former church in Holborn and is nestled amongst a thriving mix of bars, shops & restaurants in the capital’s high end district.
The hotel was originally built in the early 1900s by some of the best craftsmen of the time, and now boasts sumptuously decorated surroundings including bedrooms with velvet & leather interiors and stunning marble bathrooms.
CCL Wetrooms were approached by C P Hart to supply wetroom and waterproofing solutions into 40 shower rooms within the guest bathrooms in the stunning luxury hotel.
The wetrooms were constructed and installed by Working Environments onto a combination of timber and solid floors within the hotel, and required drainage & waterproofing systems suitable to cope with high flow rates.
The Solution
CCL Wetrooms recommended the installation of a Modular Wet-Floor System with TR-50 Waterseal trap into the bespoke shower rooms, that could connect easily to the existing waste pipe. (A linear screed drain was installed into the shower rooms that were constructed on solid floors) The highly flexible Modular Wet-Floor System allows a wetroom of almost any size or configuration to be created and allows the drain to be situated in almost any position within the shower area.
An 18mm ply sub floor was constructed within the timber floors prior to the tapered boards being installed, to provide additional support to the drain body and to ensure the floor was strong enough to cope with the contemporary tiling throughout the bathrooms.
Following the installation of Tilesafe waterproof membrane to the floor and FWM to the walls of each shower room, the shower rooms were tiled and a wall to wall bespoke frameless grill (in a variety of lengths) was installed to complete the high end finish of the wetroom.
