The award winning Pure Gym brand required a waterproofing solution for their latest development
The Challenge
The Pure Gym concept is based around the passion for fitness. Pure Gym provide functional training zones for their members, open 24/7 , any day or night, with state of the art fitness equipment and no need for a membership contract.
Pure Gym contacted Wetrooms UK to manufacture, supply and install level entry drainage and waterproofing systems into the male and female shower cubicles in their new gym development at Southampton. The two shower blocks needed to be fully waterproofed and appropriate drainage systems installed capable of coping with flow rates of up to 24 litres per minute, prior to the installation of six shower cubicles per block.
The Solution
Wetrooms UK recommended the specification of Six Modular Wet-floor Systems for installation on the timber floor. The six floor formers were butted together and installed side by side, creating individual falls towards the contemporary linear drains. In addition, floor formers were installed alongside the cubicles resulting in the whole shower area being laid to fall.
Six vertical drainage traps and slotted stainless steel grills capable of coping with constant flow rates of up to 24 litres per minute were installed in the floor, prior to waterproofing and the application of floor and wall tiles.
Tilesafe waterproof membrane was applied to the floor and wall junctions within the shower areas and across the entire floor area. Flexible Wall Membrane (FWM) was applied full height to the shower walls, linking to the Tilesafe membrane, to prevent any water penetration.
