Two Fifty One
International engineering enterprise Laing O’ Rourke required wetroom drainage solutions for their off-site manufactured Bathroom Pods.
Two Fifty One is an award winning 41 storey residential & mixed use tower at the entry to Elephant & Castle, offering 335 apartments with great views of London’s skyline. The stunning development also features a 24 hour concierge service, gymnasium/health club, cinema, onsite café bar, restaurant and landscaped residents garden.
72% of the building was constructed off site using Laing O Rourke’s industry-leading Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) construction process. High quality bathroom Pods were manufactured in their offsite Pod manufacturing facility in Dubai, and efficiently installed into the high rise apartment building.
CCL Wetrooms were contacted by Laing O’Rourke to design and supply drainage solutions for 193 wetroom Pods to be constructed offsite. Each wetroom needed appropriate linear drainage for the shallow floor build up that could also achieve a very short run off from the waste pipe to the stack.
Due to the shallow nature of the floor build ups, there was a need for appropriate low level drainage systems to be installed that would deliver a watertight drainage solution within the shallow Pods. CCL Wetrooms specified Linear Screed Drains with Solid Grills, thanks to the drains’ minimal height of only 67mm.
Laing O’Rourke were able to achieve a low level waste connection in the floor build-up of under 80mm and in order to ensure a short as possible run-off on the waste pipe to the stack, the drains were bespoke manufactured in left and right-handed versions. This requirement to manufacture the drain in a left or right handed version has resulted in CCL Wetrooms adding the left and right handed drain options to the range as standard.
The Linear Screed Drain was an ideal system to install into Two Fifty One Southwark Bridge Road, thanks to the shallow nature of the trap. CCL Wetrooms provided a very professional service and I found all aspects of the design, manufacture and delivery of the drains to the project to be highly efficient.
