The stunning London apartments required the installation of wetroom & waterproofing solutions onto screeded floors
The Challenge
190 Strand is a flagship development by St Edward Homes Ltd, offering a range of bespoke luxury apartments and penthouses in the heart of London. Located on the world famous Strand, the apartments have a 24 hour concierge service and luxury swimming pool and spa complex. The 188 wetrooms of various sizes (in phase 2) needed appropriate waterproofing solutions suitable for a screeded floor construction.
The Solution
Wetrooms UK specified the installation of Linear Wall Drains and Stone-Infill Grills onto the screeded floors in the apartments and penthouses. A high build latex system incorporating insulation boards & HBL-50 levelling compound was installed to the desired depth of 22mm from finished screed level, before the installation of Linear Screed Decs. The Decs produce a consistent floor gradient and eliminate the need to create falls in the screed. Linear Wall Drains and Stone-Infill Grills of varying lengths were installed against the shower walls prior to waterproofing.
In the bathrooms, Tilesafe waterproof membrane was installed to all corner/corner junctions on the walls within the shower and across the entire floor, including under the bath, finishing 75mm up the wall/floor junction. Flexible Wall Membrane (FWM) was applied full height to the walls within the shower area and to 1m above the height of the bath, linking to the Tilesafe membrane.
